Data Miner with strong MSc/PhD background

This small Data Mining team have built a reputation for understanding when to apply what techniques for various tasks at hand as their core service is used across sectors. The underlying theme being the application of Advanced Analytics for Decision Science problems and currently there is scope to hire an additional team member who can challenge some of the existing methods being used by the business.

The requirement would thus appeal to an individual who considers themselves to be an advanced practitioner in the use of various data mining methods both across tools (SAS, SQL, SPSS, WEKA etc) as well as its application (Financial, Commercial etc). The key focus of the work is thus on delivery and the ability to work on both diverse and concurrent projects that utilise not only your data mining capability but also broader skills such as predictive analytics.

The emphasis of the role is on a "doer" who can implement solutions rapidly and isn't phased by working on diverse problems in the market. Suitable profiles should reflect some of the following core competencies:

-Excellent aptitude to deliver data mining solutions and an advanced awareness of cutting edge methods being applied in the market.

-A strong commercial acumen to know which methods will vary for which task at hand.

-Practical tools experience in SAS, SQL, SPSS or related applications.

-A MSc or PhD possibly in the above subject areas.

-Excellent communication and presentation skills to present findings to stakeholders.
