SQL Insight Analyst - Retail/FMCG: London

Data...Analytics...Insight.

Those are the 3 key skills my client seeks to develop in every hire for their core Insight Group. The team are responsible for handling a wide variety of unstructured data-sets (in SQL) with the aim of converting that into potential opportunities for multiple functions from marketing, finance, product management, supply chain etc. Individuals thus need to be comfortable in being given such a data-set and being told to go away and come up with something of commercial value using a variety of statistical and analytical techniques at their disposal. There is no "hand holding" in this client's environment. You are thrown in the deep end and as part of a multi-skilled team, asked to show-off what you can do. The only common denominator is the sector (Retail, FMCG) but the scope of the data-sets is wide across business units so candidate's will be assessed on their intellectual rigor and attention to detail.

You will demonstrate the following core skills:

-An excellent academic record (from your A-levels/International Baccalaureate through to your top-tier academic degree/MSc) within a mathematical/statistical/analytical subject.

-Excellent commercial acumen within a data/analytics intensive environment and evidence of the ability to go beyond "data analysis" or "reporting". 

-First class grasp of the value of tools such as SQL or R to derive valuable meaning from the data-sets.

-A commercial acumen that can spot "gaps" within the data to exploit and ability to present your findings to non-technical decision-makers.
